Mind the Product 2012 is the first conference of its kind, bringing together product management leaders from around the world to explore the intersection of design, technology and business – the business of building great products.

We’ve got some great speakers lined up, from right across the board:

Marty Cagan, Managing Partner of Silicon Valley Product Group and the author of Inspired: How To Create Products Customers Love. During the course of the past 20 years, Marty Cagan has served as an executive responsible for defining and building products for some of the most successful companies in the world, including Hewlett-Packard, Netscape Communications, America Online, and eBay.

Tom Hulme is Design Director at IDEO, London, where he uses a human-centred innovation approach to design new businesses.
Tom Loosemore, Deputy Director, UK Government Digital Services – working on single domain, user centred government website gov.uk. Tom has an impressive and rather privileged CV that spans Wired’s first UK magazine, head of web 2.0 for the BBC and digital strategy adviser for Ofcom, and heading Channel 4′s digital fund 4IP.

John Earner, EIR at Accel. John is a social gaming expert with experience building and scaling social gaming studios and hit titles. He was the first Product Manager at Playfish and managed both Pet Society and Restaurant City, both top Facebook games. He was then VP of Product Management globally for playfish globally before becoming the GM of Playfish’s London studios where he developed The Sims Social.

Matthew Ogle and Hannah Donovan, Co-founders of ThisIsMyJam.com. Matthew and Hannah are the product and design powerhouse behind Last.fm and have continued their passion for building music products online with hit startup Thisismyjam.com.

We’ll also have a panel moderated by Nic Newman, currently a Visiting Fellow at the Reuters Institue for the Study of Journalism and formerly Head Product Development and Technology at BBC News Interactive. Panelists will include Tanya Cordrey, Digital Development Director at Guardian News and Media, and Diana Stepner, Head of Future Technologies at Pearson.

About ProductCamp

ProductCamp London is an “unconference” so the sessions for the day will be driven by the attendees. Everyone is expected to contribute to the day, so think about what you would like to do in a session (workshop, presentation, Q&A, or just an open discussion are some possibilities).

Tips for preparing a session:

We’re here all day, and everyone’s friendly. Be sure to come prepared to spark a discussion… After all, everyone’s an expert in something, so spread the knowledge!

Need some inspiration? Here’s a list of session topics.

Need a starting point? Here’s a PowerPoint template.

Remember, bringing a formal presentation is not a requirement. Come armed with lessons, stories or tips, and simply be prepared to participate in some great discussions.

Our generous sponsors

For their outstanding support of ProductCamp, we’d like to thank our sponsors:

ProductCamp would not be possible without the help of our generous sponsors. We’ve just added two fantastic companies to our list:

Skadoosh: Basic Sponsor

Skadoosh is a social shopping game of product discovery that enables users to share “what they are interested in and more importantly what they think and feel about a brands products” in exchange for credits and rewards from brands. To play Skadoosh and earn credits, members simply login and start discovering and sharing their sentiments about brands and products, they find while browsing. i.e like, dislike, want, own. By aggregating members sentiments, brands will be able to see which of their products are currently hot or not.

Being a shopping game, Skadoosh has various levels (features) that can only be unlocked once a user has earnt enough credits. Users can only earn more credits by discovering new products and sharing their personal interests with brands. Key features that generate revenues include, affiliate fees, a recommendation engine, customised themes, personal analytics, e-tasks and a members personal (swap) shop.

Skadoosh’s key differentiator is our real-time user gamification and rules engine that uses NLP to extract meaning and value for brands. Skadoosh’s real-time platform uses Node.js and our ActivityStream API to create an extensible ontology of verbs to richly describe what users think and feel about brands and products i.e want, like, dislike, purchase, watch, share, swap, sell etc

Skadoosh’s rules engine enables brands to determine what credits, offers or discounts to provide each member in order to help change their behaviour. i.e If you indicate you like/want a product, the brand could send you a coupon or offer in real-time while your still browsing to help nudge you to make the purchase.

Wonga: Basic Sponsor

Wonga.com solves people’s urgent cash needs with an equally short-term solution. We offer UK consumers small loans in fast and convenient way and we have developed the world’s only fully automated and real-time loan processing platform.
Wonga is hiring a Senior Product Manager to join their growing team.
